For a long time, I have been a sucker for any cake that calls for an ice-cream layer. Not only is it a great dessert, but it is also a perfect way to express your emotions. My 35th birthday cake is definitely one of them.
While I would like to think that all cakes have a place in our hearts, this particular cake has been in my house for as long as I can remember. Our wedding cake was the first one I made when I was in college, and it was a little more of a cake than the rest of my creations. My favorite part of the cake was the frosting. The frosting is pretty much the definition of perfection and has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember.
I always thought that the frosting was made of a mixture of butter and shortening, but I never knew what the exact ingredients were. Now I do if I want to have a cake with that frosting.
For a lot of people, the frosting on their wedding cake is a perfect example of the perfect frosting recipe. It’s the kind of frosting that’s butter + shortening, it’s butter + more butter + more shortening, it’s butter, shortening, and butter and shortening, and it’s butter then shortening.
That’s because the perfect frosting recipe usually has a lot of butter/shortening in it. While I know there are other types of frosting out there, that is one of the most common frostings. The only time I have ever seen a really good frosting is on my grandmother’s birthday cake (and it’s not even a great cake, but she made it just for my birthday). It was a light cake, so it only had so much butter or shortening.
The truth is this cake is pretty bad. I mean, it looks terrible. But its the least terrible thing about it. It has a lot of butter and shortening and that is not good. Its also way too sweet and it tastes like a lot of sugar and like a candy bar. Its also way too salty. It’s not as bad as some of the other bad birthday cakes out there, but it’s not great either.
It’s a shame that the cake was so bad. But then, we all like a lot of cake.
I’ll admit, the cake is pretty good. I mean, what can I say, it’s cake. And I don’t mean its like, “I hate cake. I hate it all.” I just mean, it’s cake.
I have to say that I liked the cake. And I am not going to say there was a lot of butter in the cake. But I would say, there was some butter and there was plenty of shortening. Which is something to talk about with a cake.
A good cake is a cake that has enough butter and shortening to melt in your mouth, enough to melt into your brain and melt through the layers of frosting, and enough to melt into your liver. A bad cake is a cake that is just plain stupid. And it may not be a cake I would ever want to eat but it is definitely a cake I would never want to share.
