9 TED Talks That Anyone Working in steve grills Should Watch
In this podcast, author Steve Grills talks about his journey as a Buddhist monk and how he came to experience the realization that all of your thoughts and actions are part of a single, all-encompassing reality.
One of the most fascinating things about Buddhism is that it doesn’t just teach that the mind is a delusion but that it is itself a delusion. You can’t really get out of it. You can’t simply move out of its grasp without suffering. The truth of it is that our thoughts and actions are as much a part of the illusion as a real person’s physical actions and thoughts.
You have to look at it that way. You don’t actually believe you are a monk because you are a real person. You’re a monk because you have an idea that you are a real person, not because it is a part of your reality. The other side of it is that you are actually a monk because you have an idea that you are a real person, not because your physical actions and thoughts are a part of it.
We know that we have a physical body, but the fact that we have thoughts, feelings, and beliefs is not real. We know this because we can feel it. And we know that we have thoughts, feelings, and beliefs for the same reasons that we know we have physical bodies. The illusion is simply that we think you are a real person. The truth is that you are a real person (with a physical body).
The fact that the body of any person is the same regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation is a myth. We are all made in our mother’s body, which is the same as yours. The fact that we think you are a real person is just a part of your thoughts.
In the context of this video, we can think of our thoughts as the mind. Our thoughts are what we live in the body. The body is just a container for our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. When we think you are a real person, you are simply not a real person.
While the body can be deceiving, and our thoughts can be deceiving, it is also possible to experience genuine emotions without being aware of them. This does happen. I have experienced some of these thoughts myself, but I have no idea what they are. There is no way to fully know who you are until you know what you are thinking about.
It’s like playing piano. If you really want to learn how to play, you should learn how to play with your mind. That is, you should learn what the notes mean “without having to force yourself to think about them.” Because when you think about the notes, they are not just sounds that you hear. They are also words, thoughts, judgments, and feelings that you are experiencing. This is true of all thoughts, feelings, and judgments.
The mind is a complex thing, but it’s easy to get tangled in it. The mind is like a giant blender, where you mix your thoughts, feelings, and judgments into one big lump and mix them up into whatever you want. When you start to mix too many thoughts, feelings, and judgments together, you start to get confused and find yourself mixing up the ingredients of the mind, and you end up hurting your brain in the end.
It’s because of this that we don’t feel like we’re fully ourselves all the time. By focusing on our thoughts, feelings, and judgments all the time, we are focusing on the “whole” of who we are, rather than the parts of ourselves that we want to hold on to. It’s like when you are sitting in a restaurant and you can’t stop talking about your favorite meal. You end up running out of steam and feeling a little awkward.
