Never again would such a major figure in this world’s lore be featured so prominently in a World of Warcraft expansion.

This character has been elevated to the role of primary antagonist and now plays a vital role in the expansion’s major plot points. Arthas is not just a big bad boss at the conclusion of WotLK (though he is that, of course), but rather a steady companion throughout the story.

The Wrath of the Lich King update for World of Warcraft Classic has finally been released. Many players are wondering, “Which WoTLK class is the best of them all?” as they get ready to revisit one of World of Warcraft’s most cherished expansions or experience it for the first time. 

Which WoTLK class is the best of them all? The answer to that question is, as is so often the case, elusive. Understanding a class’s mechanics is essential to getting the most out of it, and this is true not only because each WoTLK class (and specialization) adds something unique to the game, but also because of how much of the game you can actually play with each. It’s not uncommon for a good player in a “poor” class to outperform an average player in a “good” class. That should be kept in mind whenever you examine a breakdown or ranking of classes.

To that end, it’s not a bad idea to familiarize yourself with the current WoTLK class rankings, especially if you’re new to the game or planning to level up a new character. Keep in mind that many of these rankings are derived from WoTLK’s initial phase. While I will discuss the classes that receive buffs throughout the expansion, my ultimate thoughts on the long-term rankings of classes will come at the end of the post.
